Make me a Wasgij Competition – Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter 

This competition is organized by the company registered under the laws of the Netherlands, Koninklijke Jumbo B.V., with statutory seat and offices at Zaandam, Westzijde (1506 EK), the Netherlands, represented by Mr. Bernard Jan Verkoren (“Promoter”). 

2. Eligibility 

  • The competition is open worldwide.
  • Entrants must be 15 years or older at the time of entry.  
  • Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.  

3. Competition Period 

  • The competition opens on 30 April 2026.
  • The submission period closes on EOD 15 May 2026. 
  • Shortlisting will take place until 29 May 2026. 
  • Public voting will run from 1 June 2026 to 12 June 2026. 
  • Winner will be revealed on 15 June 2026.  

Entries received outside these periods will not be considered. 

4. How to Enter 

  • Entries must be submitted via the official Wasgij website: wasgij.com 
  • Participants must submit an original idea for the theme of a future Wasgij puzzle.  
  • One entry per person is allowed and can include up to 3 ideas. 
  • Entries must not contain:  
    • copyrighted material owned by third parties  
    • offensive, inappropriate, or unlawful content  

5. Selection Process 

  • The Promoter will review all eligible submissions and select a shortlist of entries based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and suitability for the Wasgij brand.  
  • The shortlisted entries will be presented for public voting, and the entry receiving the most valid votes will be selected as the winner.  
  • The Promoter reserves the right to moderate, remove, or disqualify entries that do not comply with these Terms.  
  • The Promoter’s decisions are final and binding.  

6. Prize 

  • The winning submission will be developed into the Wasgij Original 50 puzzle, planned for release in January 2027.  
  • The winner may be illustrated into the puzzle artwork and/or packaging, subject to artistic interpretation and feasibility.  
  • The winner will receive one (1) free copy of the puzzle upon release. The winner must be available for contact during the week of June 15th.  
  • Four (4) runners up will receive a free copy of the puzzle upon release.   
  • The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.  

7. Use of Submitted Ideas (Intellectual Property) 

  • By entering the competition, participants:  
    • confirm that their submission is original and does not infringe third-party rights;  
    • grant the Promoter a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, and develop the submitted idea for any purpose, including commercial use.  
  • The Promoter is not obligated to use any submitted idea.  
  • Participants acknowledge that similar ideas may be submitted by others or already exist; and no compensation will be provided except to the selected winner.  

8. Winner Likeness and Publicity 

  • By entering, participants agree that if selected as the winner:  
    • they consent to their name and likeness being used in connection with the competition;  
    • they may be illustrated in the puzzle artwork and/or packaging and in related marketing materials.  
  • The Promoter will contact the winner to confirm details and may request additional written consent if required.  

9. Voting 

Voting is open to the public during the stated voting period. The Promoter reserves the right to limit votes per person/IP/email; remove fraudulent or manipulated votes; disqualify entries where voting manipulation is suspected.  

10. Data Protection 

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR). Data will be used for: administering the competition; contacting the winner; (if applicable) marketing communications where consent is given. 11. Liability 

The Promoter is not responsible for: incomplete or lost entries due to technical issues; website downtime or interruptions; any indirect or consequential loss arising from participation. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot be excluded by law. 

12. General 

The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition where necessary. If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. These Terms are governed by the laws of Netherlands.
